Media must serve the people, not money

The media must be alert to safeguard its valued role, said an article in the People's Daily (excerpts below).
A key objective of the media is to serve the people and not corporate interests or to slavishly follow ratings.
If a media outlet puts money before objectivity, it will not last long.
In the information age, the traditional media is under much more pressure. But this is no reason to lower standards.
