HONG KONG - A new, locally-developed charging station for electric vehicles is set to be installed at two government facilities in Hong Kong, said the Hong Kong Productivity Council on Wednesday.
Local authorities developed the technology jointly with a private firm, ITE Engineering, and the stations are the first to be produced locally, according to the council.
Electric vehicles can be charged up to 80 percent of its capacity within 20 minutes, said the council.
The Chief Executive Officer of ITE, Vincent Lau, said on Wednesday that the new charging stations were much cheaper than imported ones.
