A judge from Hubei province has been removed from his post after checking into a hotel with a woman, Xinhua News Agency reported on Thursday.

Zhang Jun, head of the third division of criminal case office at Hubei High People’s Court, was investigated after a video clip showing him checking in with the woman on Oct 14 was posted online, the report said.

According to the investigation launched by the provincial disciplinary authority, Zhang was in a long-term improper relationship with the woman, who was not an officer of the court, the agency said.

Zhang has been suspended and is expected to receive further punishment, the report added.
