Beijing string trio

Three renowned Chinese musicians - violinist Li Zhe, cellist Zhu Yibing (pictured) and violist Su Zhen - have formed a new group, the Beijing String Trio. They will be performing together for the first time on March 10. All three musicians have studied and performed overseas. This time they join hands to perform some chamber works by Mozart, Beethoven and Britten that are not very familiar to Chinese audiences. Italian oboist Arnaldo de Felice will be a guest performer. One special feature of this show: Zhu will give a lecture on the works and history of chamber music. Zhu, who is a professor with the Central Conservatory of Music, says he hopes the audience will interact with him and get to know more about chamber music. The concert is also unusual because it is open to children under 1.2 meters tall, who are usually not allowed into Poly Theater. It'll be a good opportunity for families to appreciate music together.

7:30 pm, March 10, Poly Theater, 14 Dongzhimen South Street, Chaoyang district, Beijing.

Strips and stripes

The Space Station Art Gallery is presenting Streaks - the solo exhibition of Liu Ke. This is also the gallery's first exhibition in 2013. Liu started his study on the narrative character of strips and lines since 2003. The 10 exhibited works are his study report for 2012. Liu uses mixed materials to create lines of various colors and textures. In the works, the lines are the main focus, and their relative positions and materials create changing rhythms to make the lines dance and talk.

10 am-6 pm, until April 2. Space Station, 798 Art Zone, 4 Jiuxianqiao Road, Chaoyang district, Beijing. 010-5978-9671.
