Jan 27, 1964, France recognized the People's Republic of China. China and France issued a joint communiqué which read: “French government and PRC government decided to establish diplomatic relations between the two countries and agreed to appoint ambassadors within three months.” These words caused a chain reaction in the international arena. Since then, Western countries followed France and stopped isolating China to establish diplomatic relations with China.
Huang Zhen, China's first ambassador in France, presented his credentials to French President Charles de Gaulle on June 6, 1964. |
