Afghan forces detain Taliban commander

MAIDAN SHAHR, Afghanistan - Afghan security forces captured a Taliban local commander in Wardak province with Maidan Shahr as its capital 35 km west of Kabul on Wednesday, a press release of the provincial government said here Thursday.
"The units of national army raided a Taliban hideout in Nurkh district and captured Taliban local commander Noor Mohammad on Wednesday night,"the press release said.
Without giving more details, it added that Noor Mohammad had organized attacks on Afghan security forces in the province.
Taliban militants have yet to make comments.
