VIENNA - An Israeli official on Wednesday accused Iran and Syria of creating instabilities in the Middle East.

Addresing the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Israel's atomic energy commission head Shaul Chorev said the two states were "known for their clandestine pursuit of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction."

Chorev made it clear that Israel never hesitated to defend itself and will not be an observer of the reality of the instable region.

He stressed that Iran's leaders, whoever always issue threats to the states, should be denounced by the international community.

Israel, who threatened to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities these days, has always been showing great concern to Iran's nuclear program, which is believed by the West to head for acquiring nuclear weapons under cover of civilian purposes.

Iran has insisted that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes, and warned that it will retaliate if it comes under attack.
