To evaluate enterprises' social responsibility, the authorities should set up national standards to make objective and fair evaluations, says an article on Beijing Youth Daily. Excerpts:

The recently released 2012 Central Enterprises Social Responsibility Report said that all the central enterprises have issued social responsibility reports in 2012.

But releasing social responsibility reports and taking social responsibility are two different matters.

It's reported that among 65 central enterprises that released reports in 2011, only 10 of them have revealed any negative information in taking social responsibility.

Many reports seem to be advertisement brochures rather than reports.

To achieve a profound and objective judgment, enterprises' social responsibility should be evaluated by neutral and unbiased social organizations.

Criteria of judgment should be authoritative and standard to make the evaluation more scientific and objective. Many countries have already set up a national standard for enterprises' social responsibility, and China should learn from their experience.
