The annual national college entrance exam, or Gaokao, is coming. An article on People's Daily urges people not to put too much pressure on children (excerpts below).
The Gaokao must be one of the most important moments for any student in China. The few days will decide which college, if any, the student will attend. It also an important moment for families.
However, pinning too much hope on the students will only increase the pressure.
If they fail to do well they will feel as if they have let themselves and their families down. Their confidences will suffer a setback.
The exam is tough enough without the added pressure.
