Internet users, including influential public figures, should adhere to seven proposals for a code of conduct for the Internet community, according to the China Internet Conference 2013.
During the conference that ended on Thursday in Beijing, the attendees concluded that netizens should uphold the seven-part code of conduct, including abiding by laws and regulations, maintaining public order and protecting national interests, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Senior managers from China's major IT giants and leaders from Microsoft, SAP, Evernote and SONY attended the event, the report said.
The seven proposals originated at a forum held on August 10, when influential Internet celebrities were urged to shoulder social responsibility.
