Charities need to make sure donations for the earthquake in Sichuan province go to victims and people who have given money should be able to supervise it, officials said on Monday.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs released a statement targeting large fund raising activities for the earthquake-stricken areas since Saturday, saying that charity groups should reveal their donation records, expenditure and relief efforts on their official website, allowing people to trace their donations.
Charity groups should also ensure that donations go to where they are intended by donators, such as rescue efforts or post-disaster reconstruction.
