BEIJING - China strongly condemns Wednesday's suicide bombing in Syria and opposes all forms of terrorism and violence, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei Thursday.
Hong made the remarks while commenting on the suicide bombing that tore through the Syrian National Intelligence compound in the capital Damascus on Wednesday. The attack killed senior Syrian officials including Defense Minister Dawood Rajaha, Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim al-Shaar as well as President Bashar al-Assad's brother in law.
China is deeply worried about the rising tensions in Syria, he added.
Hong stressed that China called again on relevant parties in Syria to immediately cease fire and bring an end to the violence.
"China once again urges Syrian parties concerned to fully implement Annan's six-point proposal, the communique of the foreign ministers' meeting of the Action Group on the Syrian issue and relevant UN Security Council resolutions," said the spokesman.
