Chinese mainland's Internet speed ranks 98th

With the world's largest internet population, the Chinese mainland is facing challenges in improving its internet connection speed.
The Chinese mainland's average Internet speed in the second quarter of this year was 1.5 Megabytes per second, 98th among more than 200 countries and regions and significantly lower than the global average of 2.6 Megabytes per second.
The top three countries and regions are South Korea, with a speed of 15.7 Megabytes per second, Japan with 10.9 Megabytes per second, and Hong Kong SAR with 9.3 Megabytes per second. And in terms of cost, users on the Chinese mainland spend around 83 yuan per month for 1 megabyte of bandwidth on average, 4 times that of the United States, and 469 times that of Hong Kong.
