China's stocks close lower Monday

BEIJING - Chinese shares fell Monday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closing down 1.41 percent, or 40.82 points, to end at 2,852.92 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index declined 1.58 percent, or 202.05 points, to end at 12,557.55.

Total turnover increased to 280.01 billion yuan ($41.98 billion), up from 183.53 billion yuan the previous trading day.
