7.8-magnitude quake hits off Sumatra, Indonesia: CENC

A 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck off the Sumatra island, Indonesia at 8:49 p.m. Wednesday (Beijing Time), the China Earthquake Networks Center said.
The epicenter was monitored at 4.9 degrees south latitude and 94.21 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 20 kilometers, according to the center.
The center's preliminary detect had put the magnitude at 7.5.
