Five-story building collapses in Yemen capital

SANAA - A five-story building collapsed on Wednesday in Yemen's capital Sanaa and two people were rescued while many others, who still trapped under the wreckages, were feared dead, a police official said.

So far, two people -- a child and an old man -- were rescued alive from under the wreckages of the building which collapsed at the crack of dawn as people were still asleep, the official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

"There were still at least seven more of one family's members under the wreckages as the rescue operation is ongoing," he said, adding that "they were expected to be found dead because the collapse took place many hours ago."
