Three Chinese travel destinations named the world's top 10 wonders

A new book by Lonely Planet recently named the top 50 must-see world wonders, and three Chinese travel destinations were named as top 10 greatest wonders, according to British Daily Mail on March 27, 2014.

China’s Terracotta Army, Great Wall and Potala Palace are ranked 5th, 6th and 10th in the top 10 list.

The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the life-size armies of China’s first emperor afterlife.

The Great Wall is a series fortifications made of stones, bricks, wood and other materials, running from east to west along the northern borders of China. It was built to protect Chinese empire against intrusion.

The Potala Palace is located in Lhasa. It was the chief residence of the Dalai Lama, and now is a museum and UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is famous for its amazing architectural design.

Victoria Falls is the first-ranked wonder, and the other six wonders are: Great Rift Valley, Giant's Causeway, Taj Mahal, Ngorongoro Crater, Kilauea, Hagia Sophia.
