Wenchuan quake survivor finds new life at Para Games

Tian Fugang competes in the R1-SH1 men's 10m air rifle standing shooting event at the 2010 Asian Para Games in Guangzhou, Dec 13, 2010. Tian was a machine maintenance worker at a factory in Southwest China's Sichuan province before the devastating earthquake on May 12, 2008 paralyzed his body below the waist. He was a football lover before the accident, but he turned to shooting to continue his passion for sports. Tian failed to qualify for the finals as he finished 12th in the preliminaries, but he enjoyed the competition process. "This is my first time to compete in such big international games, so I come here to study and practice." Tian said.[Xinhua] |
