FC Copenhagen through to top 16

COPENHAGEN - FC Copenhagen beat Panathinaikos 3-1 on Tuesday to clinch second spot in Group D and became the first Danish team to advance to the knockout stage of the Champions League.

There are nearly 40,000 audiences coming to the Parken arena and most of them are fans of FC Copenhagen.

Martin Vingaard gave Copenhagen a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute and Jesper Gronkjaer doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 50th.

Panathinaikos striker Djibril Cisse scored an own-goal in the 73rd minute before the Greek league champions pulled one back through Cedric Kante in the 90th minute.

Copenhagen has 10 points in the group, four behind Barcelona and four in front of Rubin Kazan.

In another game of group D, FC Rubin Kazan lost 2-0 to FC Barcelona.
