Britain's military says two Royal Air Force jets were scrambled to accompany the Etihad flight as it was diverted to Stansted airport, north of London. Police say a 37-year-old British man was arrested Monday but gave no further details.

The nature of the threats allegedly made by the passenger was not disclosed.

The aircraft landed safely and no one was injured.
