With Emir, Bellucci said, there is always a duality between reality and fantasy but even if it is a big movie with a lot of different situations, it remains very artistic and intimate.
There are moments of journey, adventure, death, violence but there are also periods of silence with just two people looking and talking to each other. Those are beautiful minutes of love, even if we are in the middle of the war, love is the most important element.
Asked about the construction of the film, the Italian actress said "the structure of his films remains the same with tragic, fantasy and comic moments; after that it is amazing how he can be sexy and so strong. I think this is a movie of hope but also, despite the war, it can be seen as a film of life."
Bellucci then explained that Emir Kusturica has such an energy that you follow him with his incredible strength.
"He has always new ideas going so fast out of his mind so you have to be ready to change things, sometimes even in Serb, which was not my language, I had unexpectedly to learn new sentences," said Bellucci.
According to Bellucci, the Serbian director has a natural power and authority that's why people follow him like a commander, he has a natural aura and fantasy bringing out an idea every five minutes. In the middle of all that, there is an interesting moment where he acts like a kid.
The Italian actress was never bored with Kusturica. "This is what I'm looking for now when choosing a role," she stressed.
About shooting in Serbia, Bellucci said that "when I was there I learned so many terrible stories but from outside it is difficult to make a judgment about this land because it's a very complex ethnic mix. The beauty is there but with so much suffering and when you go there you feel many 'energies' getting a part of you."
