WARSAW - European Council President Donald Tusk said here Tuesday European Union(EU) should be united and Poland should not join the group of countries who want to rock the European boat.

After a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, Tusk said "European Union is our common good and as such it deserves our attention and support. Here in Warsaw, I did my best to convince the Prime Minister that Polish government should refrain from undermining EU's position."

"We need a strong, stable and united Europe. It is crucial that we commit ourselves to building our common future", he said.

Tusk is currently visiting EU member states in an attempt to forge a common stance on a series of issues. He said the main purpose of his Warsaw visit was to strengthen Poland's position in the EU.

Experts said that current migrant crisis, economic downturn and British decision to leave the EU pose a serious threat to European solidarity.

After the meeting, Polish government spokesman Rafal Bochenek said Tusk and Szydlo also discussed the pending EU summit in Bratislava, Slovenia on Friday.

"We believe that changes in the European Union are certainly necessary and should be initiated with the forthcoming summit," said Bochenek.
