Ryan Reynolds has filed for divorce from Scarlett Johansson with the actress immediately filing her response.

The 34-year-old actor lodged his divorce petition in Los Angeles Superior Court late yesterday (23.12.10), naming the official date of separation as December 14, 2010, the day the pair announced the end of their two-year marriage.

Sources close to the couple believe the divorce filings were carefully co-ordinated and say both agree on all terms.

There is no prenuptial agreement in place and neither party is seeking spousal support from the other, although Ryan is reported to have made more money than his actress wife during the course of their two-year marriage.

It is presumed their assets will be divided equally although the petitions say property rights are yet to be determined.

Despite the amicable divorce both parties have hired lawyers, with Ryan choosing celebrity attorney Laura Wasser, while Scarlett has retained Lynn Soodik.

The couple - who married in September 2008 just four months after getting engaged - released a statement confirming their separation earlier this month and insisted the decision was amicable.

The statement read: "After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we've decided to end our marriage.

"We entered our relationship with love and it's with love and kindness we leave it."
