Price of Monet's oil painting hits 20 mln in China auction

Claude Monet's The Chapel of Our Lady of Grace at Honfleur became the most expensive painting sold at an auction in China on Sunday at 20.7 million yuan ($3.2 million).
A total of 12 pieces were sold during China's first sale of western masterpieces for 52.8 million yuan in Hangzhou, Xiling Yinshe Auction Co. said.
The sale also featured a still life Giorgio Morandi that sold for 9.43 million yuan, and Paul Gauguin's Two Cows under a Tree for 6.67 million yuan.
The Xiling Yinshe autumn auction has 32 sessions with over 4,600 items including calligraphy, inkstones, seals, jade sculptures, paintings, clocks, watches and coins going under the hammer.
