Bulgarians celebrate Spring Festival at Chinese Charm Show

About 3,500 excited spectators including the Bulgarian Vice-President Angel Marin applauded here on Tuesday evening the Dunhuang Charm Show performed by the Chinese world-famous Gansu Provincial Ensemble of Opera.

Chinese ambassador to Bulgaria Guo Yezhou opened the performance in the Bulgarian National Palace of Culture (NPC), saying that this event was organized jointly by the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria and NPC, in order to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Guo also said he believed that through this performance the audience would touch the glorious history and splendid culture of China.

In the Dunhuang Charm Show, the Gansu Opera House features through music and dance the most popular murals in the Mogao Grottoes, as well as some of the most important Buddhist deities.

The ancient music is played on traditional Chinese instruments, such as Pipa, Guzheng and Bosom Drums.
