China will actively push forward real-name registration systems on the Internet this year, including Twitter-like Weibo and Tieba, a Chinese communication platform provided by the Chinese search engine company Baidu, said Xu Feng, head of mobile network administration at the State Internet Information Office (SIIO), on Tuesday.

Twenty-four websites, nine website channels and 17 WeChat subscription accounts were closed recently in line with law, Xu said.

An instant messaging service review at the end of 2014 showed that over 80 percent of WeChat users sign up with their real identities, according to Xu.

SIIO will also enhance supervision and management of the online environment.
