Jaycee Chan, son of Chinese kung fu superstar Jackie Chan, has pleaded guilty to drug charges at the Dongcheng District People's Court in Beijing today.
The judge found the defendant guilty of helping others use illegal substances. Chan has been sentenced to six months in prison and fined two thousand yuan ($322).
According to the official Sina Weibo of Doncheng District People's Court, defendant Chen Zuming (Jaycee Chan's real name) did not object to prosecutor's charges and pleaded guilty.
"I broke the law and should be punished. When I return to the society, I vow not to break the law again, because if I do, I will add another layer of disappointment to my family and friends. I will get the punishment I deserve, but it doesn't mean that I will be forgiven. I hope to achieve that through my actions in the future," Chan said at the court.
Chan was detained by Beijing police for drug offences on Aug 14, 2014, alongside Taiwan-based actor Kai Ko Chen-tung.
"I made a mistake, I know what I did was wrong. I should have followed the law," Chan says.
Chan and Ko tested positive for marijuana and both admitted to having taken the drug. Police seized more than 100 grams of marijuana from Chan's home.
The People's Procuratorate of Dongcheng District filed charges against Chan on Dec 22 for providing a venue for drug users.
According to Chinese law, the maximum sentence for this crime is three years in prison as well as a fine.
