Lectures have been given on trains on how to protect travelers, especially students, from pickpockets, the prosecuting authority of Beijing Railway reported on Tuesday.
Summer is peak season for student travel, said Wang Jingbo, senior prosecutor of the authority.
"Some prosecutors have arranged to speak at railway stations, and some give lectures and broadcasts on trains," he said.
Almost 100 prosecutors are helping out, he said.
About 40 percent of rail thefts are due to pickpockets, "so we want to make use of the summer time to inform passengers how to protect themselves".
The prosecutor also added the programs on how to avoid the menace of pickpockets have been arranged for Tianjin and Shijiazhuang, Hebei province.
