Beijing residents can make an online appointment to apply for passports starting June 1, 2013, cutting the process by two days, Beijing Times reported Tuesday.
Local residents can log onto the official website of Beijing Public Security Bureau (www.bjgaj.gov.cn) and make an appointment.
"The online system can finish the form in about 10 seconds, and applicants can get an appointment soon," said Cai Junhong, an official at the bureau.
The application process is cut from ten to eight work days. Also, applicants can check the progress of the process online.
