SANMENXIA - Eight workers have been confirmed dead, while rescuers are working to lift the rest 45 trapped miners, after a rock burst at a central Chinese coal mine, rescue headquarters said Saturday morning.
As of 8:20 am on Nov 5, 37 trapped miners had been safely lifted to the surface.
The headquarter corrected the previous calculation after finding four more miners dead and another one rescued and sent to hospital earlier.
A rock burst occured on Tursday evening in the Qianqiu Coal Mine in the city of Sanmenxia.
At that time, 75 miners were working in the shaft, of whom four were immediately killed and 22 managed to escape or were pulled out alive as of Friday.
