Chinese envoy to attend Kuwait Liberation Day gala

BEIJING - A Chinese special envoy will attend the 20th anniversary ceremony of Kuwait's Liberation Day on February 26, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu Thursday.

Liu Peng, Chinese sports chief, will attend the ceremony as an envoy of President Hu Jintao, said Ma at a regular news briefing.

The Liberation Day celebrates the liberation of Kuwait by a multi-national force from seven months of traumatic Iraqi occupation on February 26, 1991.
