In response to the recent influenza situation in Hong Kong, the Hospital Authority (HA), in close collaboration with the Center for Health Protection, has activated the enhanced monitoring system for severe influenza patients staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals.

The HA spokesman said as of 2 pm Wednesday, two newly confirmed cases of flu A/H1N1 had been admitted to intensive care units, including a 53-year-old male patient and a 30-year-old male patient, who are both in critical condition.

Currently, there are a total of 30 influenza patients staying in the intensive care units of public hospitals in Hong Kong, including the above two newly confirmed cases.
