Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has requested its public security organs above county level to launch official microblogs, in an attempt to strengthen communication with the public, chinanews.com reported Wednesday.

Liuzhou police started its official microblog on t.sina.com.cn in June, which proved to be a success, with over 121,000 followers and their accolades.
A spokesman for the regional public security bureau said the microblog has served as a platform for the police to make announcements and the public to offer suggestions and information. Last year, whistle-blowers helped in over 100 cases through the microblog.
