"Member countries should consider all sides' interests and concerns and seek a package of resolutions through broad and democratic negotiations, so as to reach the broadest possible consensus," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu at a regular press briefing.

He was commenting on India's moves to seek permanent membership of the council.

Ma said China would keep contact and work with all sides to promote reforms conducive to the UN's overall interests as well as solidarity among all member states.
