China, Qatar vow closer energy cooperation

BEIJING - Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Wednesday vowed to expand cooperation with Qatar on areas like energy, finance and infrastructure.

Xi made the remarks while meeting with visiting Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiya in Beijing.

China-Qatar relationship was now facing new opportunity and enjoy broad prospect for closer cooperation, said Xi.

Xi said China attached great importance to multi-dimensional cooperation with Qatar and hoped for increased ties so as to benefit both countries and peoples.

Xi also expressed his appreciation for Qatar's support for the issues concerning China's core interests.

Al-Attiya, also Minister of Energy and Industry, said his country expected to enhance cooperation with China in such areas as energy, trade, investment and infrastructure.
