Fifteen people have been arrested and an estimated 160 million yuan ($24 million) of fake Hermes, LV and BV leather goods seized in an operation by police, Guangzhou Daily reported Monday.
The Guangzhou public security bureau reported on Sunday they had busted a major criminal gang involved in selling faux designer brands in the city. An estimated 160 million ($24 million) worth of 4,500 fake leather products including Hermes, Bottega Veneta and Louis Vuitton resulted in 15 arrests, according to the report.
So far, the Guangzhou police have uncovered 21 similar cases and destroyed nine dens used for counterfeiting products since the campaign was launched last November.
