Earthquake damages 23,600 buildings in SW China

Several moderate earthquakes which jolted Yingjiang county, Southwest China's Yunnan province on Saturday and Sunday damaged more than 23,600 houses, affecting 14,800 locals, but no casualties have been reported so far, Xinhua News said Monday.

Li Zhiren, deputy county chief said local authorities have dispatched 2,000 tents and 2,000 blankets for local people who have been transferred from their endangered homes.

On Saturday, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake also hit Yingjiang county at 5:31 pm, according to the local county government. Soon after, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit Yingjiang at 7:33 am on Sunday.
