Chinese, Russian leaders exchange New Year greetings

BEIJING - Chinese President Hu Jintao and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev exchanged congratulatory messages on New Year's eve on Friday.
The year 2011 will be another important year for the development of bilateral ties, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Russian Good Neighborly Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, Hu said.
During the past ten years, the two sides have deepened their political mutual trust, conducted effective strategic coordination, constantly improved the quality and level of their cooperation in various fields, further consolidated their traditional friendship, and enhanced bilateral relations to an unprecedented high.
In the coming new year, China is ready to work with Russia, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the good-neighborly treaty, to continue to uphold the principle and spirit of the treaty, foster the spirit of peace and eternal friendship, promote bilateral pragmatic cooperation in all fields, deepen the strategic partnership of cooperation, and jointly create a better future for the Sino-Russian ties, said Hu.
In his message, Medvedev said that Sino-Russian ties have witnessed all-round development and yielded great achievements in the past year.
Russia is ready to deepen political mutual trust and expand mutual support, enhance pragmatic cooperation in various fields and work closely with China in international affairs, on the basis of the existing bilateral cooperation.
In the coming new year, the two countries will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the signing of their good-neighborly treaty, and Russia will work jointly with China to promote the friendship between the two countries and two peoples from generation to generation, bring about new achievements in their all-round pragmatic cooperation, and raise bilateral relations to a new height, Medvedev said.
