Hu congratulates Lukashenko on reelection

BEIJING -- Chinese President Hu Jintao on Friday sent a congratulatory message to Alexander Lukashenko on his reelection as the president of Belarus.

In his message, Hu said that China and Belarus, which are good friends and good partners, enjoy high-level political mutual trust, and firmly support each other on major issues concerning their respective core interests.

The Chinese president said the two countries have conducted fruitful cooperation in such fields as trade and economy, science and technology, and military technology, and in humanistic sectors on an equal footing.

The two nations have also carried out close coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, safeguarding the common interests of both sides, he said.

Hu also stressed that China attaches great importance to its relationship with Belarus, and is ready to work together with the country to make unremitting efforts to keep promoting bilateral ties to a higher level.
