Although the second trial of his homemade plane failed, Zhang Dedong, a former machinist of Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, still boasts about his greatest achievement: lifting the plane to more than seven meters high, Modern Express reported.
The plane was made within 106 days, basically from a motorcycle. Other hardware was taken from machines including tricycles, tractors blowers and paddy pounders, according to Zhang. He tried to fly the plane on Tuesday but ended up scraping the branches along the road and sliding less than 50 meters.
Zhang blamed this failure on road conditions and the windy weather. He said he would improve the plane and keep on trying.
