In their telephone conversation, Yang said the international community is very concerned about the upcoming talks in Geneva between Iran, the EU and the six nations, namely Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States, plus Germany.

It is the hope of the Chinese side that all sides can adopt a constructive attitude in the talks and push for positive progress, Yang said.

China is willing to work with the EU and other concerned parties to make great efforts to that end, Yang said.

Ashton, meanwhile, said that China is an important participant in the negotiations concerning Iran's nuclear issue, and that the EU wishes to work with China to make headway in the talks.
