China's new leadership has high hopes for its new Broadband internet strategy. As in the US, and Europe, faster broadband should equal greater industrial efficiency, and, convenience for households.
The "Broadband China" strategy aims to speed up the network, lower the service fees, and reach more corners of the country.
Currently, the strategy is led by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and operated by the telecom carriers.
"China's newly elected leadership pays a great attention on broadband built, and I believe the new version of 'Broadband China' strategy, with concrete development measures, will be released soon." Cao Shumin, Direoctor of China Academy of Telecom Research, MIIT, said.
More than 127 countries and economies have released broadband plans.
The United States highlighted "energy and environment features", "economic opportunity" and "health care" in plan.
The European Union believes broadband access could efficiency in the manufacture industry by 5 percent. And the services sector by 10 percent.
"The government calls it important tech facilities instead of basic communication equipment, so we can sense that broadband development is up to a strategic level." Cao Shumin said.
China's State Council promises to achieve at least 20 percent growth annually in the IT sector between 2013 to 2015.
It's hoped falling fees and wider coverage, will mean low income households in remote areas can also enjoy the convenience of broadband.
