Tibet's 2010 retail sales up 19%

China's Tibet autonomous region generated 18.1 billion yuan ($2.7 billion) in retail sales in 2010, up 18.7 percent year-on-year, the regional statistics bureau said on Jan 31.

Some 13.3 billion yuan of the sales occurred in urban areas, up 17.3 percent year-on-year, while 4.8 billion yuan occurred in rural areas, up 22.6 percent.

Of the total, the wholesale sector generated 110 million yuan of the sales, up 20.4 percent year-on-year; the retail sector generated 15.2 billion yuan of them, up 19.4 percent; the hotel sector generated 364 million yuan of them, up 16.2 percent; and the catering sector generated 2.4 billion yuan of them, up 14.4 percent.
