Lamps shine in honor of the late Buddhist master

Butter lamps shine in Jokhang Temple, with the Potala Palace as a background on the evening of Dec 1, 2010, in Lhasa. According to the Tibetan lunar calendar, Oct 25 is commemorated as the anniversary of the death of Tsongkapa, the great reformer of Tibetan Buddhism. He died on this day in 1419. In memory, every household burns countless butter lamps on roofs and chant prayers in his honor. [Photo/Xinhua]
