TEHRAN -- Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Amir Aziz Ali-Akbari has been banned for life after testing positive for a banned anabolic steroid, Tehran Times daily reported on Saturday.

The international wrestling association FILA recognized Ali-Akbar as a lifetime period of ineligibility as the result of their anti-doping rule violations.

Hereby, Ali-Akbari is stripped of the gold medal he won at the 2013 Wrestling World Championships held in Budapest, Hungary in September.

The Iranian 26-year-old wrestler had defeated Estonian Heiki Nabi 4-0 in the men's 120kg final, but he was ordered to return his gold medal.

The silver medalist wrestler Heiki Nabi will be awarded with the gold medal. Turkish wrestler Reza Kayaalp and Swedish Johan Euren will be upgraded to the second and third respectively.
