Chicken is a very popular ingredient for porridge, second only to pork.

Chicken is highly nutritious and loaded with vitamins and minerals. Compared to other meats, chicken is low in fat and will not add extra calories to your diet.

Chicken congee is gentle on the digestive system and the carbohydrates from the rice serves as a good energy source.

It is recommended as one of the essential ingredients in the diet of pregnant women.

To make, boil congee with white rice. Add bite-sized chicken cubes and cook until the color turns white. Add chopped preserved eggs, bring to a boil and season with salt and white pepper.
