BEIJING -- The State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH) has given more than 1,000 items of cultural heritage works to the provincial museum of China's southern-most province of Hainan.

In addition to the 1,040 items, 173 pieces of incomplete relics that need restoring have also been transferred to Hainan Museum.

Among the collections are nine pieces of the country's top cultural relics.

According to the SACH, most of the items are ceramic and porcelain works, which date back from the prehistoric era through to the Qing Dynasty period.

The relics reflect the history and development of China's ceramics and porcelain crafts and industries, and are of high scientific, historical and aesthetic value, the administration said.

The collections include 143 heritage works, which were once illegally smuggled to Denmark and later returned to China in 2008.

The transferred works were previously kept by the China Cultural Heritage Information and Consulting Center under the SACH.
