Blue-and-white Brush Pot with Poem
Reign of the Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty (1662-1722).
Height: 16 cm, Diameter: 19.3 cm
The poem, which was composed by Wang Bao under the order of Emperor Xuan of Han to praise the Emperor for finding commendable officials, is written in green on the white background of the straight tubular brush pot. The regular style of calligraphy lines up in order on the surface. The under glazed red square seal with four characters "Xichaochuangu" shows that it was an work of official kiln during the reign of Emperor Kangxi.
Green Jade with the design of Hornless Dragon on Clouds
Qing Dynasty (1644-1911)
Length: 7.7 cm, Width: 4.6 cm
Excavated in Haidian District, Beijing, the jade piece is currently kept in the Capital Museum. With the carving techniques of openwork and relief, a hornless dragon named Chi and mandarin ducks are on the one side, while the other side is a phoenix laying on clouds. The carvings are exquisite and detailed.
