The Chinese Father's Day Initiative recently was founded in Beijing to promote a Chinese version of Father's Day.
Cultural expert and head of the initiative Li Hanqiu says the regular celebration of festivals is the best way to improve a nation's cultural memory and recognition, especially as more youth focus more on Western festivals.
The initiative proposes designating the Double Ninth Festival (the ninth day of the ninth lunar month) - also known as Senior's Day - as China's Father's Day.
The organization will launch a series of events, such as writing competitions about fathers, to promote the proposal.
