China is checking the impact of Pyongyang's nuclear test on China's environment and civilian security, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks at a daily press briefing, a few hours after the test, which Pyongyang claimed was a H-bomb test, was conducted.
"The Chinese government attaches great importance to the security of Chinese citizens. The departments in charge are comprehensively checking the nuclear test's impact on China and taking all necessary measures to protect them," Hua said.
The Ministry of Environmental Protection is monitoring relevant indexes, she said, and will carry out emergency radiation tests in the border area. The ministry will also thoroughly analyze the figures and issue information to the public.
